Systems & IT Manager

The Role

 

Paragon Law are looking for a multi-stack IT specialist who will take ownership of and develop in this new role that has been created at this award-winning law firm.

 

The ideal candidate will have a passion for new technologies and how this can be leveraged in business to make efficiencies in how we work and the service we provide to clients.

 

The firm has recently acquired a new case management system and related third party apps and as such the candidate chosen for this role will be involved in the implementation of this new system.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Implementation and management of the firm’s case management system:
  • Working with the senior management team to understand the requirements for workflows, linked actions and the screens required.
  • Using the case management integrated development tools to write and test code to develop these solutions.
  • To integrate the third party apps smoothly into the case management and operating system.
  • Writing configuration specs, documentation and operating manuals.
  • Testing and modifying systems to ensure that they operate reliably.
  • Responding to feedback and making updates as and when required.
  • Fault finding, diagnosing and fixing bugs.
  1. To implement the firm’s digital marketing strategy:
  • Manage update of the firm’s websites (CMS and WordPress).
  • To be involved in the content creation of new websites.
  • To implement the content and delivery of digital seminars and video creation.
  • To manage and update our CRM and digital communication.
  • Liaising with and managing third party suppliers where the expertise is not in-house.
  • To write and maintain an operating manual.

 

  1. Hardware/Software and IT Support:

            - To manage our IT support provider to ensure:

  • That new users’ computers are configured in time and with the correct user access.
  • To troubleshoot and outsource problems to the IT support provider when needed.
  • To review and make recommendations on upgrades to computers and software packages.
  • Manage IT budget.
  • To write and maintain an operating manual.
  1. Strategy:
  • To work with the senior management team to develop and IT strategy that is relevant, up to date and which will leverage emerging and new technologies.

 

Key Skills and Experience Required

  • Degree in computer science or software development (preferable) though someone who is self-trained through continued professional development courses will be considered.
  • Mathematical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience of writing code and programming languages (though training will be given on the firm’s new case management system).
  • An understanding of the latest trends (including digital marketing technologies) and their effect on a commercial environment.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Team work skills as you will be required to work with individuals across the firm and develop/maintain external relationships.
  • Self-development skills to keep up to date with fast-changing trends.

The Package

 

This is a full-time role (37.5 hours p/w) to start immediately based in our Nottingham office but with the opportunity to work from home on approved days.

Supervising Senior Caseworker:

 

Job Type:                                              Full-time

Due to internal progression, we are now looking for a highly motivated IAAS Accredited Supervising Senior Caseworker.

This role is within our Asylum team where the focus is on asylum and human rights law. The successful candidate will have responsibility for an active asylum caseload involving, as appropriate, all aspects of asylum and human rights work including unaccompanied minors, adult asylum claims, fresh claims, extension applications, appeals and higher court work. As a supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for the supervision of up to 4 other asylum caseworkers at varying levels of experience. This aspect of the role includes legal, file administration and performance supervision under the direction of the team Director. 

 

It is therefore essential that the right candidate has:

  • Accreditation to Level Two (Senior Caseworker) as part of the Immigration & Asylum Accreditation scheme operated by the Law Society. 
  • Accreditation to the level of Supervisor as part of the Immigration & Asylum Accreditation scheme operated by the Law Society (now called Supervising Senior Caseworker). 
  • Experience of working under a Legal Aid Agency contract.  
  • Experience of having sole conduct of an active asylum case load.  
  • Experience of preparing appeals to the IAC (Immigration and Asylum Chamber).  
  • Ability to prioritise workload. 
  • Pleasant and tactful manner in dealing with clients, both in person and on the telephone. 
  • Use of computer packages, subject to adequate training. 
  • Eligible to work full time in the UK.  
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English; both orally and in writing.  
  • Commitment to assisting those requiring protection in the UK.  

 

It is also desirable that the right candidate is: 

  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in any discipline in the UK or overseas. 
  • Has experience of supervising others including compliance with Legal Aid contract requirements, legal supervision and performance reviews.  
  • Experience of meeting both strict external deadlines and internal financial targets.  
  • Experience of representing unaccompanied asylum seeking children and victims of trafficking/modern slavery.  
  • Experience of preparing appeals to the higher courts, judicial review applications and resisting removals.

1. Pay scale– competitive dependant on experience.  

2. Annual Leave – 20 days per annum (plus public holidays) rising by 1 day after every holiday year worked, to a maximum of 25 days.
