Trainee Solicitor Commencing September 2021

What will you do?

 

As a niche immigration law firm, we have 3 training seats Personal and Family, Corporate and Asylum & Human Rights. Your final seat will be your qualification seat.

 

During your training you will work alongside the Legal Directors and Associates in each department. You will gain experience   and training as follows:

  • Speaking to new and existing clients to take detailed instructions of their case
  • Preparation of cases and obtaining evidence to support the client’s application or appeal
  • Support legal handlers in the running of cases
  • Preparation of letters and documents
  • Maintain accurate records of all work carried out on behalf of clients and keep clients informed regularly on the progress of their matter
  • Progress files in accordance with legal and procedural time limits and in accordance with the commitment to service given to clients by the Firm
  • Maintain accurate personal and departmental diaries with records of legal time limits
  • The proper opening of client files, recording time and regular file reviews
  • Prepare evidence for courts and to work with barristers and other experts in the conduct of cases

 

Qualifications

  • Degree in any discipline
  • Successfully passed the Legal Practice Course
  • Minimum of 12 months experience in immigration law (preferred but not essential as training will be given)
  • Accredited to Level 2 of the Law Society Accreditation Scheme in Immigration Law (preferred but not essential as the firm will support you in attaining this)

Reporting directly to the Department Head in each training seat, you will also be supported by the firm’s Training Director and you will work closely with our lawyers and administrators.

 

This role will give the successful candidate the opportunity to develop their legal skills with one of the UK’s leading immigration law firms.

 

Salary:

£21,000 per annum

  • 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays, rising by an additional day for each full year’s service to a maximum of 30 days

Work remotely:

Yes, but as Covid-19 restrictions lift you must have the ability to travel to our Nottingham office for part of the week and when required.
