Here For Good: Free EU Settlement Scheme

To help those affected by the results of 2016’s Referendum, the charity ‘Here For Good’ established a scheme to enable EU, EEA, and Swiss citizens to gain free legal advice. Inspired by their work, our Managing Director, Thalej Vasishta, partnered with the charity. Through our partnership with Here For Good we have been able to help deliver free immigration support to vulnerable individuals in the East Midlands.

To date the scheme has provided over 200 instances of email support, had just under 300 telephone enquiries, and provided over 40 instances of legal representation. Whilst the EU Settlement Scheme is now only open to late applications, the partnership remains to continue to support to these citizens. The referendum may be over, but the fight for the rights of these citizens has only just begun!

What you need to apply

Free Advice and Application Support

Our immigration solicitors are able to help with a range of enquiries relating to the EU Settlement Scheme, in particular we can help with:

  • Advice on the rights of family members.
  • Help regarding residence documents.
  • 1-to-1 support with theEU Exit: ID Document Check.
  • Any immigration/Brexit-related questions.
 

(It must be noted the EU Settlement Scheme is only open to late applications)

This application is free and easy to complete but if you are a vulnerable person and are eligible for free advice, all you need to bring is:

  • A smartphone.
  • Biometric Passport.
  • National ID card.
  • On your smartphone you will have to download the ‘EU Exit: ID Document Check’ App (available on the Appstore and Google Play - no data is stored on the app).

For those who meet the following criteria we are able to offer free appointments to assist with completing and submitting applications. In order to qualify for a free appointment to make your application you must:

  • Be a non-English speaker;
  • Be elderly;
  • Have a disability;
  • Have difficulty accessing technology;
  • Or meet our means-tested financial threshold.

If you’re not an EU, EEA or Swiss national, you can also apply to the scheme. However, we understand that applications can sometimes be complex so contact us if you need any advice.

Meet the Team

Nigel Smith

Nigel heads up the Immigration team at Paragon Law and is a qualified Solicitor both in the UK and New Zealand. He has been dealing with Immigration matters for over 15 years. Nigel has dealt with multiple complex EU Settlement Scheme applications with a fantastic success rate.

Elliott Dipper

Elliott graduated from from Nottingham Trent University with a 1st LLB Honours in Law and has since joined Paragon Law as a Senior Caseworker dealing with EU Settlement applications, and spouse visas and advises on the Here For Good Helpline on a weekly basis.

George Hanvere

George graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a 1st LLB Honours in Law. George has been working alongside Nigel since he started at Paragon Law in July 2019 and has helped with the submission of complex applications.
